School of Informatics Univ. of Edinburgh James Clerk Maxwell Building The King's Buildings Mayfield Road Edinburgh EH9 3JZ UK |
Directions |
By Bus:
If you have arrived in Edinburgh by train, or have taken the airport bus into the centre of
the city, then you will be in the vicinity of Waverley Station. From Waverley Station it is
a short walk along Princes St to The Mound. From here you can catch the number 42 bus which
you can ride out of the city centre and disembark near The King's Buildings, on Mayfield
Road.
Alternatively if you continue walking along Princes St westwards you will find bus-stops for
the number 24 bus, which can also be taken to near The King's Buildings (again, Mayfield
Road).
By Taxi:
Edinburgh has many 'black cabs' which should be easy to find at most times of the day in the
city centre. There is a taxi rank outside Waverley Station, and taking a taxi to The King's
Buildings will usually cost £5-7.
By Car:
From the city bypass take the A701 into the city until it becomes Mayfield Road. The King's
Buildings will be on your left.
From the city centre travel up Causewayside until it becomes Mayfield Road, The King's
Buildings will be ahead of you on your right.
Once on the King's Buildings campus, locate the James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB). Maps of the
campus are distributed near all main paths through the campus and are easy to understand with a
little study. Alternatively, ask one of the many friendly people around the campus as most will
be able to point you in the right direction.
Upon entering JCMB you will find yourself in an entrance hall. Keeping the stairs to your left,
walk through the doors to the side of the Servitors' post. Once through the doors take a sharp
left and continue down the corridor. At the end of this corridor you will find IPAB. Make sure
to look up for the IPAB signs, and if you think you're lost do stop and ask someone for
directions.
